The Symposium has been one of the events where the academic and professional community of different disciplines meets in order to: i.) Update their knowledge in the various branches of statistics, ii.) Present and discuss recent statistical problems, both of applied research as theoretical, and, iii.) form working groups or networks that share common interests (interinstitutional agreements, research projects, internships, directions of undergraduate work, etc.).
Annually, the Symposium convenes recognized international academics in the statistical field, who, through courses and conferences, present their most recent research, which has contributed greatly to the development of statistical tools in Latin America, promoting regional cooperation , increasing the academic level of research in the region, facilitating collaboration between Colombian, Latin American researchers and colleagues from the rest of the world.
Statistics has established itself as one of the most important areas to solve problems and propose relevant technical solutions for sectors such as industry, government, business and, in fact, society in general. The roles of statistical understanding and statistical thinking are vital in all these areas and disciplines, increasingly driven by large volumes of data, evidence-based agendas and technological advances that generate data, in addition to allowing a solution to more complex problems.
Therefore, we see, by 2025, as the most important academic event at the Latin American level, in which the Colombian statistical community has the possibility of interacting with renowned academics of wide international trajectory, thus strengthening the consolidation of different cooperation networks international as well as to present and discuss theoretical, methodological and technological innovations in the area.
